Style: Ruby Red Slippers

 

True, the "slippers" you are about to see from Christian Louboutin are much more modern day interpretations of The Wizard of Oz's infamous ruby red slippers. But, nevertheless still inspired by this iconic shoe.

So iconic that the actual ruby slippers used in the film are among the most treasured and valuable film memorabilia in movie history. No one knows exactly how many pairs were made for the film, there are five that are known of including one pair at the Smithsonian.

Ruby is actually one of the 44 identifiable major differences from the book, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. They were changed to ruby to take advantage of the new Technicolor filming process at that time.
