I've been inspired by music again. This time by Swedish electronic dance trio Swedish House Mafia after seeing their "One Last Tour" in downtown Los Angeles. So, I've decided to create my own SHM Lounge (illustrated above) using their music, lyrics, and the video "Greyhound" for creative basis.

Swedish House Mafia Lounge
Video: Greyhound
"Greyhound" is the third single from Swedish House Mafia's album, Until Now. The video revolves around the concept of three, since there are three members of SHM (three cars, three greyhounds, the three primary colors). Groups of elaborately dressed people arrive in the desert to sip cocktails and watch three mechanical greyhouds race. The costumes take note from "Masquerade Motel" which is the theme of SHM's "One Last Tour".

Education: Kurt Cobain
It doesn't get more grunge or more rock and roll than Kurt Cobain. I can't say that I'm completely obsessed with Cobain, or Nirvana, but he fascinates me as an artist. His life and the story of getting everything people dream of and some would say wishing he never had it, is captivating. There is a passion in his lyrics that I'm drawn to. When an artist lays down real meaning and hidden agendas in their music, it makes it that much more entertaining.
Video: Low
Does it mean that I'm "middle aged" if I'm obsessed with the 90's, since I lived through it and all? I find myself saying things like "the 90's was the best rock music ever made" and I frown in my head. Mid-life crisis aside, I just watched the Perks of Being a Wallflower and was pleasantly reminded of Cracker's "Low" and promptly downloaded it to my 90's rock playlist.

Suit & Tie Bar Nook
I might not be the most excited person for Justin Timberlake's return to music, but I can appreciate his contribution to the art. And I can find inspiration in his brand image (and video) for "Suit & Tie" to create my very own plush Bar Nook. Check the details below.

XXX Dirty Thirty
So, I tend to make an event out of all of my birthdays. It hasn't always been this way but it has been this way for the last three years or so. I find a theme, usually something I've been throwing around with my friends and we go all out.
Rude Boy Bedroom
Take it, take it, love me, love me! Check out my "Rude Boy" Bedroom. Perfect for a teenager, a dorm room, or maybe even a grown up who refuses to grow up and wants to have fun with prints, patterns, and a leather lion. Check below to see the items.

Rihanna
released the Rude Boy video in February 2010. The single reached gold
certification and is the most successful single from Rihanna's fourth platinum
studio album Rated R. Rihanna seems to never disappoint and the rasta
inspired video follows suit from the songs title which is taken from an old
Jamaican slang term for lawless males. It also has artist references from Andy
Warhol, Keith Haring, and Jean-Michel Basquiat. She gets down and dirty in over
seven different outfits and performs various nineties dancehall moves from the
bogle to the butterfly. Definitely a classic.
