A Story Inside: Alice of Magic World

A Storybook themed restaurant can either be brilliant or incredibly tragic. This Alice in Wonderland themed restaurant in Tokyo, "Alice of Magic World", is actually kind of brilliant.

I would say it pulls it off by keeping it's themed elements pretty clean lined, like napkins folded into crowns and a monochromatic palette on ornate furnishings. All of the artwork used appears to be original artwork from Lewis Carrolls' Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, which helps create a classic or traditional element. Where as Disney graphics would make it animated and more childish.

I have to say I'm kind of in love with the chandelier composed of hearts and the dining area fashioned after the Queen of Heart's croquet gardens (both can be seen below). And the hallway lined with pages from the original book. Okay, I'm kind of feeling the whole scheme. What do you think?
