Art: Carol Sims

Nothing is more exciting than re-interpretation. It's usually the credit that's given to Madonna for her substantial career over several decades (she's way more than an image!). And it's what draws me to the above artwork by Carol Sims. I love the re-interpretation of colors.

Nature is the source of every color you can imagine. Sims' paintings often focus on nature; plants with large, detailed patterns and leaves. "She views her paintings as bold and enthusiastic statements of peace, serenity and the splendor of the natural world".

Who couldn't use some more peace in their world? These large displays of vibrant colors are the perfect addition of flash to accompany basic furnishings and create a conversation in Interior Design. It's also easy to pull colors from Sims' work to create a group of accent pillows or bedding scheme.

The above work is titled "Going Bananas". Check out more of her work here.
