We can't go Wild without some Madonna! What better title from her extensive catalog than the one that explains it all, "Girl Gone Wild". And what better day than the Queen of Pop's 55th birthday?
The second single from Madonna's twelfth studio album, MDNA, "Girl Gone Wild" enlists producer Benny Benassi to provide electro and house beats. Lyrically she sings of being bad and asking for forgiveness. Visually she re-envisions some of the content that make "Erotica" one of my all time favorite videos from the Queen of...well, everything!
The video was directed by famed fashion photographers Mert & Marcus and the fashion influence didn't stop there. I'm not talking about the Agent Provocateur lingerie, I'm talking about the group of male runway models enlisted to help Madonna go bad. Including one of my all time favorites, Jon Kortajarena.
All the lust, sweat, and (black ink) tears accompany Ukrainian dance group Kazakay with whom Madonna holds her own despite being in her fifties (c'mon! She's A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.). As E! Online contributor Nathalie Finn puts it, "Madonna doesn’t need a song to tell us she’s ready to dance all night — just one look at her and you figure she could outlast the average partyer under any circumstances".
Of course, it wouldn't be Wild and it wouldn't be Madonna without some controversy. Shortly after it's debut on YouTube, it was flagged by many as inappropriate and the site was forced to limit it's views to only the eighteen and over crowd.
Think you can handle this level of Wild? Look if you dare (below) and don't worry, I already forgive you.
