Music: Love Lockdown

Oh Kanye. I like to compare the persona of Kanye West to that of a crying baby. It stresses you out but you still give it attention.

As far as West's public persona, I'm turned off. But, musically I'm always intrigued. I can't argue with controversy since that is what we come to expect from groundbreaking artists.

"Love Lockdown" is from West's fourth studio album, 808s & Heartbreak. It's title sounds like it could've been a perfect feature for last month's topic of Romance. But, it's video and even the composition featuring drums and howling make it a jungle inspired welcome addition to everything Wild for August.

West's "Love Lockdown" video was directed by Simon Henwood. It was inspired by Christian Bale's portrayal of Patrick Bateman in American Psycho, filmed in West's apartment that eerily resembles Bateman's in the film. It gets wild when African tribe members appear more and more frequently during each chorus dancing and beating on djembe drums.

By the end two female figures covered in body paint are decorated with abstract tattoo patterns reminiscent of the Nazca Lines. Talk about Wild inspiration! Check it for yourself (below).
