One of my favorite love songs from one of my favorite Christina Aguilera albums. Bionic is the sixth studio album from Aguilera which was released in 2010 and promised to be "short, sweet, and completely different".
She was right and change isn't always easy. Critics soon began to question Aguilera's musical direction and lyrical persona. The album incorporates pop, electropop, and synthpop styles, but lyrical persona? The heart of Aguilera remains the same in my opinion with just different packaging. It is refreshing, fun, and personal just like her albums past. In my opinion, extremely underrated.
I love that this album has 18 tracks! 18! These days you are lucky to get 11 new tracks (if an album isn't a re-release of hits with 2 new songs). And one (yes, just one) of the highlights from this mechanical gem is "All I Need".
"All I Need" was written by Aguilera, Sia Furler, and Samuel Dixon as a piano ballad for her son, Max. However, it's lyrics are easily translated to describe a lover...or even "soul mate". Including probably one of my favorite lyrics in music, "I'll feed you love and I hope it's enough to inspire you through suffering, holding you up". Here's a look at the entire song:
Kissing your lips, kissing you top to toe
Wishing for this, hoping for all we know
Hearing you breathe, you leave and return
Oh, how we take, how we give and we learn
Taking my time, seeing the signs
Letting you guide me home
Watching you grow, letting you know
You are my only
You bring me hope when I can't breathe
You give me love, you're all I need
Slowly I'm holding you closely
You're wrapped in my arms and you're inside me
Tell you my fears, telling you everything
Telling the truth to you gives me wings
Free with my words, free as a bird
I am flying high looking at you
Everything new, you are my life
You bring me hope when I can't breathe
You give me love, you're all I need
Slowly I'm holding you closely
So happy to carry you inside me
I'll feed you, love, and I hope it's enough
To inspire you through suffering, holding you up
I'll feed you, love, and I hope it's enough
To inspire you through suffering, holding you up
Since "All I Need" was never an official single for Aguilera there is no official video. But, how could I not share this song with you? Take a listen below. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
