Inside by Tom: Copake Lake House

I love a gorgeous wall treatment. I work as a painter sometimes (on the side) distressing cabinets and finishing walls with stripes or leather and plaster techniques.

I'm also a sucker for a masculine space. Which seems to be the theme with most Tom Interior Designers, even if they spell it Thom.

Thom Filicia accomplished both in this Copake Lake House. Washed planks cover almost every square inch of this retreat. The furnishings are a mix of contemporary clean lines and traditional styles like ornate headboards (see photos below).

And what is more masculine than a taxidermy collection? Sorry PETA.

Filicia is the found and Chief Creative Officer of New York City-based design firm, Thom Filicia, Inc. Launched in 1998, it has become known for "stunning modern, yet classic interiors that retain an inviting aesthetic which reflects the individuality of the client".

Publications like House Beautiful and Elle Décor have taken notice of this style, featuring his interiors and awarding him with titles like "Top 100 Designers". He has worked with names like Jennifer Lopez and Peter Jennings. But, you might recognize him from Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.
